Graduate Program
The Treasury GRADStart Graduate Program is a 12 month program during which time you can negotiate to rotate to different work areas, participate in training and development programs and build on your internal and external networks.
Applications for the graduate program open in April of each year with successful applicants offered a permanent position for either a July or February commencement.
We encourage applications from all disciplines, but particularly:
- Economics
- Accounting
- Business
- Law
- Commerce
- Finance
- Mathematics and Statistics
The professional development component of the program has been structured to meet Treasury’s corporate knowledge and leadership needs. Examples include:
- formal induction
- tour of parliament house and introduction to State Government
- cross-cultural awareness
- GOLD program (Graduates Own Leadership Development)
- career planning
- whole-of-Government graduate networking events
- graduate alumni events.
Important information for applicants
- Applicants are shortlisted based on their ability to meet the assessment criteria detailed in the Graduate Role Description (available when applications are open).
- Applicants will be advised via email whether they have been successful in progressing to each stage of the selection process.
- Updates on the selection process will be advertised on this website.
- Shortlisted applicants must be available at the nominated times to participate in the selection process. Arrangements will be made for those applicants currently living outside of the greater Brisbane area.
- Successful applicants will be offered a permanent position which is subject to a three month probationary period.
- Your application may also be forwarded to other Queensland Government departments for consideration in other graduate recruitment processes. You will be advised by email if your application has been forwarded to another Queensland Government department, including the name of the department.
- Feedback will only be provided to 'interviewed' applicants (see 'How to apply' below for more information about the selection process).
- Applications will only be accepted from international students if you have already applied for Permanent Residency (PR) Status and are still awaiting the outcome. Permanent appointment to the program cannot be made without PR Status.

The selection process is as follows:
