Accountability
The Under Treasurer is the accountable officer of Treasury and
is responsible to the Treasurer for the performance of the department.
We are accountable to Parliament, which determines Treasury's annual
budget allocation.
As part of the State Budget process, the Treasurer accounts for
the portfolio's performance before a hearing of the Estimates Committee.
With the support of senior Treasury staff, the Treasurer responds
to questions or issues raised by Government and non-Government members
of the Committee.
Within the portfolio, the responsibilities of the executive and
middle management are outlined in accountability maps. These maps
are designed to ensure a clear separation between each level of
management and enable managers to deliver business outputs, planning
and people management.
In addition, the Under Treasurer has delegated authority for a
range of operational activities. These delegations strengthen all
staff's responsibility for the delivery of outputs and are in accordance
with the Financial Administration and Audit Act 1977. Controls
are in place to ensure staff adhere to these delegations.
