December 2001 saw Tony Bellas move on from his position as Deputy Under Treasurer to pursue a career in one of the State's Government-owned corporations, CS Energy.

During his 14 years with Treasury, Tony made many substantial contributions to the department and the State. He played an integral role in the merger of Suncorp, Metway and QIDC, reform of the water, electricity and transport sectors, sale of the TAB and sell-down of the Government's interests in the Bank of Queensland.

As one of my deputies, Tony provided great support in managing this diverse organisation to meet the changing needs of the Government and the community.

Other dedicated Treasury staff to move on from the department and the Queensland Government in 2001-02 after lengthy service were:

We bid a sad goodbye to Dianne Cherry, Lawrie O'Keefe and Tom Beirne, who passed away this year. During their time with Treasury, all three enjoyed the respect of their colleagues and made valuable contributions to the organisation. They are fondly remembered.
