Recognising our people
Australia Day Awards
Queensland Treasury's Australia Day Awards are a great opportunity to recognise the achievements, innovation and the dedication of Treasury staff. Over a 10 year period, the Australia Day Awards have acknowledged the excellent work undertaken by individuals and teams from across Treasury. This year we presented four team awards and one Corporate Citizenship Award. Paul Malos from the Office of State Revenue was awarded the Corporate Citizenship Award for his commitment to demonstrating the Treasury values of achievement, excellence and teamwork. The four team awards were presented to:
- the Debt Management Team from the Office of State Revenue for being a national leader among state revenue offices with a 10 year history of reducing outstanding debt
- the Responsible Gambling Teaching Resource Kit Project Team for developing an educational resource for schools, designed to help young people develop the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about gambling
- the 33 Charlotte Street Project Team for its outstanding work in coordinating the relocation of 1000 staff from five Treasury offices to 33 Charlotte Street, creating opportunities to work more closely together, improve information sharing and realise efficiencies in services and information technology and
- the QSuper Seminars Unit for expanding information and education services to members and implementing innovative business practices to ensure that seminars continue to meet members' needs.
25 years of service
We're proud of the fact many of our employees choose to stay with our organisation, as it means we're getting the 'people side' of our business right. Treasury's average length of tenure for an employee is around seven years. Treasury's long serving employees' corporate knowledge and expertise are valuable assets to our organisation.
This year we celebrated the contribution of 120 staff who had worked in Treasury and/or the Queensland public sector for 25 years or more. To mark their achievement, we presented staff with a certificate and commemorative lapel pin. In future years, the long service awards will be incorporated into the annual Australia Day Awards.
