Visits build global networks

Building networks and sharing Treasury's expertise in global circles is the thinking behind Queensland Treasury's program of hosting international delegations.

In 2005-06, Treasury welcomed 15 delegations from government finance, revenue, commerce and statistical agencies located in the People's Republic of China and Vietnam.

The program gives delegates direct access to senior Treasury executives, analysts and other experts, who design programs for each group's specific interests. In October 2005, a delegation from northern China's Hebei province was briefed on reform in financial and performance management in Queensland.

The visits offer a valuable professional development opportunity for delegates and allow Treasury to showcase Queensland's expertise in public sector fiscal and financial management. Visits are often part of international study tours organised for the agencies by international trade associations, educational institutions and other networks.

Treasury's reputation for delivering informative, professional programs has spread since the program began in 2004. Visits are often 'repeat business', as delegates return home and endorse the program to colleagues and associates.
