Keeping clients informed - an everyday exercise

Engaging with clients is part of everyday business for the Office of State Revenue (OSR). In 2005-06, OSR commenced a Client Support Program for duties self assessors, which includes seminars and targeted client visits. It's important to engage with self assessors because they are registered OSR agents who have the authority to assess and stamp documents for their clients.

The program helps clients to get it right first time and reduce the number of common errors. In 2005-06, OSR conducted 32 seminars and 14 visits throughout South East Queensland. OSR also gave two presentations to Queensland Law Society members as part of their Residential Conveyancing Seminar in August 2005 and March 2006. Seminar topics included transfer and mortgage duty issues, obligations of self assessors, types of documents for self-assessment, how to calculate duty, what forms are required and why, and compliance requirements.

The Client Support Program is part of OSR's client relationship management strategy to help clients meet their obligations and obtain their entitlements.
