Super seminar boosts women's wealth of knowledge

In conjunction with the Office for Women, QSuper developed and presented the 'Women and super' seminars from March to May 2006. The seminars addressed the particular challenges faced by women in saving for retirement, and offered simple, practical tips on how they can overcome these challenges.

More than 800 women attended the seminars, which were held in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba. The seminars were open to all women, regardless of their superannuation membership. Seminar topics were tailored to the retirement needs of women aged 35 to 50 years. However, women in other age groups also benefited from the provided information.

The seminars were part of QSuper's strategy for women, which addressed the national trend of most women retiring with approximately half the superannuation of men. The strategy was designed to educate women on superannuation options to assist them in increasing their superannuation wealth.
