Leading the way for responsible gambling

Queensland's responsible gambling messages are reaching people where they live, work and play.

In November 2006, the Queensland Office of Gaming Regulation's (QOGR) award-winning 'Don't let gambling control you' campaign was relaunched.

Club and pub patrons and the community saw the campaign via an extensive program of cinema, radio, public transport and press advertisements.

While other Australian campaigns have targeted gambling that has already become a problem, Queensland's campaign takes an early intervention approach by helping regular gamblers make responsible gambling choices.

Post-campaign research indicated 70 per cent of target audiences said they could relate to the messages and felt they were relevant to them.

The campaign was named Queensland and national winner in the social marketing category of the Australian Marketing Institute Awards in 2006.

In 2007, QOGR will engage with communities through market research to make sure responsible gambling messages 'stay real'.
