Advancing careers through development

Supporting staff through SARAS

Treasury values its multidisciplinary workforce and our people continue to increase their skills and advance their careers through further study. SARAS supports employees who are undertaking formal tertiary study or research projects through financial assistance and flexible leave arrangements. During 2007–08, we used SARAS to support 70 staff in disciplines such as commerce, accounting, information technology, law, applied finance and human resource management.

Developing our project management capabilities

During 2007–08, 70 staff from various levels throughout the organisation completed internationally recognised PRINCE2 and Managing Successful Programs (MSP) training. The Queensland Government project and program methodologies are based on PRINCE2 and MSP. Investing in our staff by developing their capability will enable us to deliver a consistent approach to project and program management and meet whole-of-Government objectives.
