1.3 Set priorities and strategic objectives (reflecting election commitments) (DPC)
The areas in which the Government will concentrate its efforts in response to changing community needs and expectations are published in the Charter of Social and Fiscal Responsibility as a set of priorities, with supporting strategic objectives.
Governance
The current Government priorities were approved by Cabinet in 2008.
Priorities tend to reflect the policy platform and election commitments, based on which the Government was elected. The Government is held accountable for implementing those policies and delivering on their commitments through the electoral process. Performance is published annually in the Priorities in Progress report.
Timing
The Charter of Social and Fiscal Responsibility, including the Government's priorities, is generally reviewed and reissued with the establishment of each new Parliament.
