3.7 Update whole-of-Government Forward Estimates (Treasury)
Forward Estimates represent the projected annual position for each year of a five year planning horizon (i.e. current year, next budget year, plus three out years). Forward estimates are produced on a departmental basis.
There are two types of forward estimates that Treasury takes into account when producing the whole-of-Government Forward Estimates:
-
A 'no-policy change' update that means agencies have updated their forward estimates based on factors other than a change of policy (for example, using agreed growth parameters).
-
An update based on policy decisions made by CBRC.
Governance
Treasury maintains the whole-of-Government Forward Estimates based on information provided by agencies through the Tridata system.
Timing
Major Forward Estimates updates generally occur in October, February and April (pre-Budget).
Next step: 3.8 Prepare and finalise annual State Budget papers (Treasury)
Previous step: 3.6 Make resource allocation decisions and advise outcomes (CBRC)
