4.3 Portfolio Ministers advocate budget requests with CBRC (Ministers/agencies and CBRC)

Once agencies have put forward their Budget submissions, and Treasury, in consultation with the Department of Premier and Cabinet, have prepared briefs on those submissions for the Cabinet Budget Review Committee (CBRC), CBRC meet individually with all Portfolio Ministers to discuss Ministers' submissions.

Governance

Budget submissions are approved by Ministers prior to their submission, through Treasury, to CBRC. Treasury Analysts, in consultation with Policy Officers from the Department of Premier and Cabinet, prepare briefs for CBRC on agencies' submissions.

Timing

Treasury advises agencies of the due date for Budget submissions early in the Budget process. This will vary from year to year, but, for a June Budget, is likely to be in January.

Further information

A CBRC template brief is provided annually to Treasury.
