Treasury provides the State with advice on the management of Government assets. We have responsibility for privatisations, corporatisations, divestments and other changes in ownership arrangements affecting Government assets.
Projects Treasury has been responsible for managing include:
-
Sale of the Brisbane Markets - Treasury managed the competitive bid process for the sale of the Brisbane Markets - the State's central wholesale fruit, vegetable and flower markets. Aims of the sale included maximising the State's financial return and ensuring the market's continued operation in the medium to long term.
-
Long-term lease over Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal - Treasury managed the competitive bid process for the lease of the coal terminal to a private sector consortium. The lease avoids the need for significant future Government investment in the expansion of the terminal, enabling funds to be directed to other Government priorities in health, police and education.
