Treasury prepares and disseminates consolidated financial reports using data collected from the Tridata whole-of-Government reporting system. These reports reflect the increasing transparency and accountability of the Government.
Our key activities are to:
-
Prepare budgeted financial statement on a Government Finance Statistics (GFS) basis. These statements are prepared in the context of the published Budget papers, Mid Year Fiscal and Economic Review and Outcomes Report that is published in the Report on State Finances.
-
Prepare whole-of-Government Consolidated Financial Statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standard that are published each year in the Report on State Finances.
-
Record financial transactions entered into on behalf of the State, such as payments made to and from the Consolidated Fund, and maintain central provisions for public sector long service leave, superannuation and Queensland Government insurance liabilities.
-
Manage the central whole-of-Government provision for long service leave and the Queensland Government Insurance Scheme through the provision of policy advice and quarterly reporting.
-
Provide operational advice, information and support to agencies on whole-of-Government financial management and reporting issues.
The reports we produce include:
Queensland State Budget Papers
The annual Budget papers give an overview of the Government's strategic direction, priorities and plans, and fiscal and economic policies. The Papers provide information on major revenue and expenditure items, recent economic conditions, forecasts of key economic aggregates and information on financial relations between state and Commonwealth Governments. The Budget Papers also include consolidated financial statements for the General Government (departments, etc) Public-Non financial Corporations and Non-financial Public sectors and details of capital projects undertaken across the State.
Mid-Year Fiscal and Economic Review
The Mid-Year Fiscal and Economic Review provides a mid-year update on the fiscal and economic outlook for the State. This includes updated forecasts for major economic parameters, revised estimates of State Government borrowings and consolidated sectoral financial statements prepared under the GFS framework of accounting.
Report on State Finances
The Report on State Finances incorporates both the Outcomes Report and the Consolidated Financial Statements providing a comprehensive view of the financial operations and position of the Queensland Government.
