1 William Street
Status/phase
On 21 December 2012, the Government announced that Cbus Property was the successful proponent for the development of 1 William Street.
This immediately commenced a process of preliminary design work and development application processes to support early works.
On 4 March 2013 the Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development Infrastructure and Planning and the Treasurer and Minister for Trade announced the commencement of works on the 1 William Street site.
The main Development Application for the tower was lodged with the Brisbane City Council on 27 March 2013.
Bulk excavation, piling and foundation works will be undertaken during the rest of 2013. Basement building works are programmed to commence early in 2014.

Description of project
The project will develop 1 William Street in Brisbane's CBD.
The strategic objectives of the State in the development of 1 William Street are to act as a catalyst for the activation of the Government Administrative precinct and to meet the accommodation demands of the Queensland Public Service.
The State Government of Queensland sees the development of 1 William Street as critical to achieve the following objectives:
- Enhance Brisbane's reputation as a vibrant city with modern, landmark architecture in a well-planned urban environment
- Accommodate the Queensland Public Service and create a highly productive environment for team members focused on achieving the best outcomes for the businesses and people of Queensland
- Reinvigorate and act as a catalyst for change in the Government Administrative Precinct
- Achieve value for money for the State
- Create a high quality, sustainable development on the site
- To activate this project in the shortest possible time as part of the Government's priority to boost the State's economy
1 William Street is the logical site for significant parts of government administration given its proximity to Parliament House.
