About the removal of the Community Ambulance Cover Levy
What happens now? Do I still have the same high level of Ambulance Cover?
Yes. All Queensland residents will enjoy free Ambulance Cover throughout Australia. The Government will now fund the cost of the Ambulance service through its annual budget.
What if I was exempt from the levy (e.g. Seniors Card Holder or Pensioner)?
You will continue to receive free Ambulance Cover.
When is the levy abolished?
The levy will no longer be charged after 1 July 2011.
What should I do if my electricity account still has the Ambulance Cover levy on it?
Your electricity account should only include a charge for the number of days up to and including 30 June 2011. If you are concerned the levy has been charged for days after this date please contact your electricity retailer or electricity provider.
