Areas of Treasury

Agency Performance – leads the development of economic and fiscally-responsible public policy analysis and advice to Government and agencies to promote economic growth; manages and influences complex public policy, fiscal and economic issues across the public sector; jointly leads the implementation of the Agency Performance Partnership Strategy and the development and implementation of complex public policy and strategies, in partnership with line agencies, in order to support economic growth, job creation and prosperity for Queenslanders in line with government agenda.

Agency Performance and Investment – leads complex governance and commercial issues and risks related to substantial business enterprises which facilitate private sector investment and industry development to support Queensland’s economic growth, job creation and improved prosperity; responsible for strategic positioning to provide the best economic, commercial and fiscal policy advice and advocacy to the Queensland Government; jointly leads the implementation of the Agency Performance Partnership Strategy and the development and implementation of complex public policy and strategies, in partnership with line agencies, in order to support economic growth, job creation and prosperity for Queenslanders in line with government agenda.

Economics and Fiscal Coordination – delivers whole-of-government economic, fiscal, revenue, financial management, accounting, policy and reporting services to the Under Treasurer, Treasurer and Cabinet Budget Review Committee; oversees the development of economic forecasts and whole of government fiscal estimates; provide strategic economic policy advice, economic impact modelling and data to inform public policy and decision making across the Queensland Government to promote economic growth and job creation; provides advice on employment and skilled migration; manages the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office and associated responsibilities.

Finance Branch – Provides a wide range of essential services to the department, including budget and performance management, governance and policy, and corporate accounting and taxation.

Graduate entry roles

Accountant – assists in the development and review of departmental financial policies; provides advice in relation to financial accounting and financial reporting; operational financial accounting such as journal preparation, reconciliations, vendor/payment certification, financial system maintenance; monitors the department’s budget performance; and contributes to whole-of-government financial management and reporting policies.

Treasury Analyst – monitors the financial and non-financial performance of government agencies and identifies opportunities for improvement; provides advice on financial, economic and public policy issues, and conducts research and analyses financial and policy issues and prepare and present findings.
