Home owner grants

The Queensland Government is committed to helping Queenslanders get into their own home sooner.

Queensland first home owner grant

The Queensland first home owner grant provides first-time home buyers an extra bit of help to get into the market sooner.

If eligible, you’ll get $15,000 or $30,000 towards buying or building your new home. The Queensland grant covers new houses, units and townhouses—you can even buy off the plan or choose to build yourself.

Regional home building boost grant

The Regional home building boost grant provides assistance to regional Queensland home owners while helping to stimulate the regional housing sector as the economy recovers from COVID-19.

If eligible, you’ll get $5,000 on the completion of your purchase or the construction of your brand-new house, unit or townhouse valued at less than $750,000. If you are a first-time home owner you may also be eligible for the Queensland first home owners’ grant.

You need to follow the 2-step application process within the timeframes and:

  • your contract must be dated between 4 June 2020 and 31 March 2021—if you have a contract to buy or build
  • your build must have started between 4 June 2020 and 31 March 2021—if you are an owner-builder who is building a new home.

HomeBuilder grant

If eligible, you’ll get the Australian Government HomeBuilder grant if you build a new home, buy a new home or substantially renovate an existing home.

The grant provides:

  • $25,000 for contracts signed between 4 June and 31 December 2020
  • $15,000 for contracts signed between 1 January and 31 March 2021.

The Queensland Government is delivering the HomeBuilder grant for the Australian Government.
