Laminex

With support from the Queensland Government, Laminex reopened the former Carter Holt Harvey timber processing facility in Gympie, following its 2019 closure.

Laminex employed former Carter Holt Harvey employees, securing 42 previously lost jobs.

Strong cooperation from all stakeholders and the collaboration between government and industry through Queensland Rail, Gympie Regional Council, Corbet’s and Laminex was vital to securing a positive outcome for the workers.

Laminex has since gone on to invest almost $4 million into the timber processing facility that now also produces particleboard flooring to meet growing market demand. Laminex has invested in plant reliability, improving the quality of products manufactured as well as upgrading fire protection and safety controls.

The facility has added additional shifts that has substantially increased the facility’s workforce and is a valuable part of the Wide Bay local economy and regional manufacturing capabilities.
