Qantas Group chose Toowoomba as the best location in regional Australia for its multi-million-dollar pilot training academy for students from Australia and around the globe.
Support from the Queensland Government and the Wagner Corporation was vital in securing the pilot academy for the Darling Downs. Construction of the academy created around 100 jobs and supported an additional 300 jobs through the construction supply chain.
The academy at Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport has the capacity to accommodate and train 250 pilots a year.
In their journey to become world-class aviators, students are trained in a syllabus developed by Qantas, one of the world’s great airlines, and have access to the latest in aviation training systems.
