Australian Biotherapeutics

Thanks to support from the Queensland Government, Australian Biotherapeutics chose to establish its $10.4 million manufacturing facility at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.

The company is now manufacturing biotherapeutic and pharmaceutic products locally for global export and is creating up to 25 highly skilled jobs in its first 5 years of operations.

Research scientists and engineers are working alongside quality assurance and business development experts to manufacture locally made biotherapeutics products in one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.

The Sunshine Coast company is now in a prime position to take a share of the $50 billion a year international biotherapeutics market.

The company’s Queensland-based joint venture partner, Servatus Biopharmaceuticals, has globally recognised research, development and production expertise. The collaboration is supporting Australian Biotherapeutics to supply quality, cutting-edge products to established global markets and customers, mostly in the USA and Asia.

The joint venture is pioneering biomanufacturing in the region and offers high-value job opportunities in professional and business management areas as well as research and development positions in the future.

The project will help to further grow Queensland’s reputation as a national leader in biotechnology with a clear vision to attract greater private investment and create more local jobs.

CEO Dr Wayne Finlayson shares why Queensland is a leading place to invest in major health and medical technology projects.
